Hello!

We are John and Debbie.  Thank you for taking the time to
look at our profile and for considering us to parent your
child.  We respect and admire your decision to choose
adoption for your baby.  Compassion, strength, love and
courage are demonstrated by your decision.  The gift of
life is wonderful and so is the gift of adoption.  We have
prayed for a long time that God would bless our life with
another child to love, raise and teach.  We are ready to
accept a new little miracle into our family and into our lives.
We hope this letter will give you a glimpse into our loving
home and the life we can provide for your child.

Our beginnings…

We were married on June 30, 1990.  We dated for five
years before we got married. John proposed in the middle
of the Adirondacks on Lake Francis in a rowboat.  "He
pulled my engagement ring out of the tackle box and I
was completely surprised.  He is very romantic."  We are
each other’s soul mate and best friends.  Our marriage
is strong and based on our close friendship, honesty,
love and respect for one another.  We have been blessed with a beautiful son, Nathan, in 1998.  We are now ready to welcome another child into our home, and we wholeheartedly embrace adoption as a way to do this.

Why we want to adopt…

We absolutely love being parents and are excited to add a new baby to our family.  Adoptive children have been a part of our life now for over 5 years.  We have a cousin who adopted two children from Russia.  Recently, John’s sister and brother-in-law adopted our nephew from Guatemala and that has inspired us to consider adoption for ourselves.  Our newest nephew has a special bond with our son Nathan that only confirms our belief that he will be an excellent big brother.   John is in excellent health but unable to conceive any more children.  We enjoy our family so much and would love to complete it with another wonderful child.

John…

John is a kind, gentle, terrific and loving husband and father.  He is extremely patient and easy going and fun to be around.   John is a toolmaker and enjoys his job very much because he loves to work with his hands creating new ideas.  He is very much into outdoors – camping, fishing, baseball, football and golf.  For the past two years, he has coached our son’s little league baseball team.   He is the best role model for our son Nathan.  He has shown him his love of the outdoors, nature, and sports.  John looks forward to sharing his love of life with another child.

Debbie…

Debbie is a wonderful, caring, generous and loving wife and mother.  She is fun loving and adventurous, and will always put her family’s needs ahead of her own.  She has a Master’s Degree in business and accounting.  She has worked for a hospital equipment manufacturer as a planner for the past 23 years.  She has an excellent way of balancing home and work. She is very involved at our son’s school and volunteers regularly in the classroom and help out whenever needed. She was a Cub Scout leader these past couple of years.   Debbie enjoys spending time with her family and friends.  Some of her hobbies include her son’s sporting events, golf, tennis, walking, biking, and just being outdoors.  Since the birth of our son, Debbie’s number one priority has been to be the best possible mother she can be.  She absolutely loves life and shares that passion with our son.  Debbie can’t wait to be a new mom again.

Our son Nathan…

Nathan is a bundle of joy.  He is 9 years old and loves everything to do with sports and outdoors. He is an excellent student with his favorite subjects being science and math.  He is an analytical thinker and loves to ask questions.  He is a very caring, thoughtful, and generous young boy who is extremely helpful and patient.  He loves hockey, baseball, fishing, and camping. He is a cub scout and has earned many awards for his efforts and enthusiasm.  He loves his chocolate lab Lucky Penny.  They are the best of friends.  He also enjoys playing with his friends, riding his bicycle, swimming, bowling, and basketball.  He wants to learn how to play football next year.  He is very excited to become a big brother.

Our faith…

We both were raised in a Catholic family and attended a catholic grade school.  We are members of a large Catholic church which is led by a wonderful priest.  Our son was baptized at our childhood church. The day was very special because the priest who baptized my husband performed the baptism of our son.  Nate attends a Catholic elementary school. The youth program at our church and his school are outstanding because of the great opportunities for children to grow and learn about Jesus.  Nathan has learned the spirit of giving back to others. He and his grandma volunteer every Friday at the local food bank.  Nathan is forming that life long relationship with God that will help him with all of life's decisions.  We are so excited to have our future child someday share in the same experiences.   Our faith is encouraged, nurtured and grows in our daily lives by how we conduct ourselves as a family.  Our love is strong for each other and our faith makes it stronger.

Our home…

We live in a 4-bedroom home with plenty of room for a new baby.  Our backyard is very spacious. We have a pool, swing set and basketball court, and you can play golf, baseball or football.  We live in a great neighborhood with lots of children and wonderful and kind neighbors.  Our community is very family friendly and offers a wide variety of activities for the children.  We have always attended these events to enrich our son’s activities in music, theater, parades and sports. We are season ticket holders to our local junior hockey team.  We are a short drive away from the beach which is a beautiful place in either the summer or winter.  We are about 10 minutes away from peaceful hiking trails, bike trails, parks, playgrounds and the zoo.  We love animals and share our home with our loved and spoiled dog, Lucky Penny, a 1 year old chocolate Labrador retriever that adores Nathan and all children.  She loves to retrieve and swim in our pool and at the beach.

Our fun times…

Our house is always full of activities.  We are a fun and active family.  Our days may be spent at the hockey rink, baseball field, zoo, children’s museum, and playground or just in our backyard sitting by the fire roasting marshmallows and telling great stories.    We are a family of laughter, hugs and kisses.  Our family outings include our yearly visit to the pumpkin patch to pick that great pumpkin, apple and strawberry picking, sledding and snowboarding, or taking a family vacation whether it be to Orlando or camping.  Halloween and Christmas are special times because we decorate our house and try to make it the scariest or the brightest house on the block. We also spend hours at the tree farm finding that right Christmas tree that we decorate with all of our homemade ornaments and popcorn strings.   With all of these activities and happiness, each day ends with a hug and kiss and a wish looking forward to another great day spent together as a family.  We can’t wait to share our fun and love with another child!

Our families…

John is the youngest of 3.  His brother has seven children and his sister has one child who was adopted.  Debbie is the oldest of 7.  Our extended family is quite large with over 26 young cousins.  Both of our families are close by and we see them weekly for visits to each other’s homes.  We also make sure to spend all holidays with our family and we especially make a big deal of birthdays.  Usually a balloon is placed on the mailbox in the morning and the house is decorated and ready to receive lots of party guests.  The day is made special for the birthday person.  Nathan sees his grandma on a daily basis and his grandparents weekly.  His grandparents are his biggest cheerleaders at his sporting events.  Our large extended family and friends eagerly await another new arrival to our family.

Parenting & our promise to you…

Children are God’s greatest gift.  Our children are our first priority.  We take great pleasure and pride in raising our children.  We demonstrate and teach them important qualities such as respect, patience, generosity, honesty and friendship as well as independence, problem solving, and confidence.  We are excited about becoming adoptive parents and big brother Nate awaits a new baby brother or sister. We have given tremendous thought to our decision to adopt.  We have a loving home and look forward to sharing our love with another child.  Our promise as parents is to provide a loving, stable home.  We are very fortunate to have the means and the desire to expose our children to many different and wonderful experiences as possible.  We will provide a nurturing, supportive home and hope to share with them the importance of family, church, school, love, laughter as well as respect for people and nature.

We were both raised in close families with strong values of honesty and compassion toward others.  We will raise our children with those same kinds of values and including unconditional love, positive reinforcement and guidance that we have always received.

We also value education and the ability to follow one’s dreams.  If we are blessed enough to adopt a baby into our family, we will do everything possible to fill that baby’s life with love, happiness, security and allow him or her to pursue that great education and follow his or her dreams.  God and prayer guide our everyday life.  God will help us realize our dream of another child.

Open adoption…

We believe that every child should be told their adoption story from the very start of their life.  We would openly share with your child the courage and strength you had to make the selfless, loving choice of adoption.   We will always feel respect and total admiration for you in giving us this precious gift.  We hope we can work together to find that openness in our adoption plan that is comfortable with everyone.

Thank you…

Thank you for taking the time to read our letter.  We
would be honored if you choose to consider us in your
adoption journey.  We are easy to talk to and look
forward to answering any of your questions.  We wish
you all the best and would love to take this journey with
you.   We will pray for you as you make your decision,
and we trust that God will guide you and lead you to the
very best decision.
